WALK 'N'SNIFF: Thanksgiving Collection

So I was in the city running errands and to kill some time, I went to the two BBWs in the city to see if they had the Thanksgiving candles and sure enough they did!

So I'm not gonna waste your time and mine talking about Cheers ~ Mulled Wine and Gather ~ Marshmallow Fireside cuz as yall already know they're both Wine Cellar and..well..Marshmallow Fireside (which I still say doesn't make an ounce of sense) respectively

Welcome ~ Autumn Spiced Wreath - So it has been confirmed that this is a repackage of Welcome ~ Cinnamon Pinecone in the WB Holiday collection. Kinda odd that BBW is selling a repackage of a scent thats gonna be in stores in another month but whatever. Anyhoo, there's really not much too say about this one; it basically smells like Fresh Balsam with a hint of cinnamon. It's like Fresh Balsam mixed with Spiced Wreath from 2013...which was a very lame scent that basically smelled like Holiday without that musty dusty bergamot note. Anyhoo, Welcome is nice and I get where BBW was going with this scent - cinnamon scented potpourri pinecones and brooms..but man that balsam action is KILLER! It just smells too much like FB. I'm not entirely sure if I like it.

Feast ~ Maple Sugar Brittle - this just smells so awfully generic to me; it's like every other caramel/toffee/butterscotch scent that BBW has ever had on the market. To me it's like Bourbon  Butterscotch  with Hot Buttered Rum; it's nauseatingly sweet and cloying and ooey gooey; diabetes in a jar. I don't get maple nor do I get almond.

Thankful ~ Chestnut & Clove - OMG...OMG!!! When I heard this was coming back, I'm almost peed on myself! This is the first and only candle in probably over a year that I have been legitimately excited for! C&C is my jam!!!! A little weird that it's being marketed as a Thanksgiving scent but hey whatever, I'm just glad it's back. Funny thing is this scent was pretty much ignored and overlooked for years. I overlooked it until I happened to really sniff it back in '13 and I was hooked. It's so cozy yet so sophisticated and elegant. It's creamy and sweet with a little spice without being bakery yet woodsy and piney without smelling cologney or Fresh Balsamy. Here's my review of it from '13

And now the fancy bougie candles...

As y'all already know Leaves, Cranberry Woods, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles and (my nemesis) Shit Cinnamon Poopkin are in this collection. I won't go into detail about these cuz everybody and their grandma already know what these smell like. However do permit me to rant..

Now folks... cough cough basic bitches...have been oh'ing and ah'ing over these damn candles on social media. All I have to say is don't believe the hype! Anything looks nice and pretty with an Instagram filter on it.. cough cough Kim Kardashian. As is often the case, IRL they're are not all that nice looking in person and these candles are no exception. They have a weird frosty yet almost iridescent metallic look to them which sounds nice but in person they just look cheap and not worth the added $2.00. I don't really see the point of them as 3 of them are already in the fall collections. Moreover I don't understand why Cranberry Woods was sold under a new name (Harvest) as a wf bulb but not as a candle under said same name. And as much as I love CW, I refuse to buy the chunky clunky 12 oz version of it just out of spite. It's just the principle of the thing - no lid, less wax, more expensive. No maam!!!

  1. Is it me or does the frosted glass look like an art project gone wrong? You know when you spray paint something but it's kind of uneven? I totally got that vibe on these bad boys! Pass! Chestnut and clove... Come to momma!!

    1. It's not bad. It's not red hot spicy or cinnamon sugary. It's more like the cinnamon bark note in Leaves and Cranberry Woods
