NEWNESS UPDATE: More Winter 2020 Candles
So lately more winter/holiday candles have been slowly trickling into stores. That said, I have something I want to say first...
I just want to go on record by saying that I do not advise
or recommend you spend all your free time making multiple trips to your nearest
BBW store for the sole reason of seeing what newness has popped up. People seem
to be forgetting that we are still in a pandemic with outbreak cases recently spiking and has the potential to further increase as we get into the colder
months. There's been this push by a few candle enthusiasts on social media
telling followers to get to their stores and sniff and buy everything in sight
as if things are back to normal and COVID19 is no longer a thing. Now I am
relaying information that I've seen/heard about what candles are coming and you
can take that information and do with it whatever you want. If you take one
lone trip to your nearest store and make a safe masked socially distanced day
out of it, fine. If like me, you're erring on the side of caution, avoiding
stores and buying online, that's also fine. I do not and will not endorse going
stores over and over, touching and sniffing candles who knows how many others
have touched and sniffed and giving yourself more possible opportunities to get
exposed and infected. IT'S JUST NOT THAT SERIOUS!
Now that that is out of the way, onto the newness!
So I already talked about the main collections for this winter. There was a collection with a holiday tartan tumblers and one new scent has been added to it...
Eucalyptus Snowfall - Frozen Eucalyptus, Snowy Spearmint, Winter Lavender (I'm pretty sure this is White Eucalyptus Lavender from the all Lavender collection as the 2 have the exact same notes)
Next ,we're getting one big mamma-jamma of a collection - The "Frosted Fable" collection which has a winter fantasy children's storybook theme to it. Under the umbrella of this collection are 3 candle groups with different looks to them.
The first group is a luminary collection; white tumblers with a transparent window middle with little Christmasy cartoony scenes which light up when the candles are lit. Returning scents include Evergreen, Sparkling Icicles and Pink Fairy Gumdrop leaving 2 "new" scents...
Christmas Cider - Mulled Cinnamon, Crushed Clove, Creamy Nutmeg, Simmering Cider (confirmed to be a repackage of last fall's A15 batch of Spiced Chestnuts)
Frosted Spearmint - Frozen Apple, Snowcapped Mint, Creamy Sandalwood ( also confirmed to be a repackage of a very ancient and long-since forgotten/unheard of holiday scent - Snow Apple Mint)
The second have tumblers with cartoony sparkling winter scenes with the name of the candle in a circle in the middle. Returning scents in this group are Snowflakes & Citrus (aka Midnight Blue Citrus), Champagne Toast, Spiced Apple Toddy, Frozen Lake, Blueberry Sugar and Winter. There's 2 new scents...
Peppermint Sugar Cookie - Crushed Peppermint, Vanilla Extract, Creamy Butter (the notes immediately made me think one hit wonder Buttercream Mint)
Frosted Pine - Frosted Juniper, Icy Eucalyptus, Evergreen Branches (this could possibly be Evergreen Wreath from the ill-fated Evergreen collection. This could also finally be the grand return of Holly Wreath)
The third group just look like your standard BBW/WB candles with rectangular candle name label but with a flurry of snowflakes on the tumblers. Returning scents are Champagne Toast, Tis the Season, Fresh Ballsack, Vanilla Snowflake, Sweater Weather, Frosted Coconut Snowball and White Eucalyptus & Sage. There are 2 "new" scents...
Gingerbread Marshmallow - Gingerbread Spice, Eggnog, Spiced Rum, Vanilla Frosting (right off the bat, this is NOT Butterrum Eggnog despite what the notes would suggest. It's confirmed to be a new albeit familiar smelling scent - very similar to Spiced Gingerbread.)
Salted Caramel Eggnog - Gooey Caramel, Fresh Sea Salt, Dulce de Leche, Sweet Whipped Cream (first of all, caramel and eggnog is a gross combination and not a thing. Second caramel and dulce de leche are essential the same thing {dulce de leche has added milk to it, hence the "leche"} so having them both in the notes is just both superfluous and stupid. Lastly, since "dulce de leche" is mentioned in the notes, is this just Pumpkin Dulce de Leche from this fall)
We'll also be getting some additions to White Barn core line (continuing the trend on matching wax color with tumbler glass) - Crushed Candy Cane, Iced Vanilla Woods, Mahogany Balsam and Spiced Gingerbread.
And quotes candles are making a comeback (...yay *eyeroll) as were getting 3 quotes 3wicks - Be Merry ~ Spiced Apple Toddy, Ho! Ho! Ho! ~ Twisted Peppermint and Let it Snow ~ Hot Cocoa & Cream
which what a wasted opportunity this was! They could've gone with
Lavender Pine - Freshly Picked Lavender, Cedarwood Bark, Frosted Pine (this obviously has to be Lavender & Pine from Evergreen collection)
I presume this is it for now. No word on a typical New Years Party theme collection as per BBW tradition. I'm sure there will probably be more candles for SAS as well as Candle Day...which I heard is still on this year and will be 3 days to thin out crowds and keep social distancing protocols as well as give stores more time to get/be better stocked (unlike last year)
That said, please be safe during your BBW visits and keep your trips to a minimum. It's still so early; I believe the next big floorset is November 2nd and everything should be out by then. You have all of next month as well as December (especially since Candle Days plural might be a thing) There is absolutely NO need to be making multiple trips to BBW and sniffing and buying just yet. Just wait a bit until all collections and their respective candles are completely released and do a safe ONE DAY ONLY socially distanced walk n sniff of your own...AND/OR wait for confirmation for what's going on December and safe your candle purchases until sale prices are cheaper. Just something to think about.
On that note I think this year would have been a perfect “throwback” year for that exact reason. I get so frustrated looking for a favorite when they keep changing the name.
