NEWNESS UPDATE: Thanksgiving Transitional Collection & Winter 2020 Candles
Well, the first day of fall was last week, we're barely into the season and BBW has already released a Thanksgiving-ish themed collection, which popped up first thing this morning...
So is pretty almost completely returning scents - Spiced Apple Toddy (Leaves 2.0), Fresh Ballsack (cuz of course), MaBLAHgony Stankwood (eyeroll), Frozen Lake (what is BBW's obsession with this damn scent?!), White Eucalyptus & Sage (already in another collection), Welcome Home (already in another damn collection) and Gather (ALREADY IN ANOTHER A DAMN COLLECTION).
Then there's some renamed selections - Grateful (aka Frosted Cranberry and Thankful (aka Harvest Gathering)
That leaves one "new" scent...
Thanks & Giving - Juicy Red Apple, Gooey Caramel, Praline Pieces (so I heard some folks say it had a Gather vibe to it..which obvi it's not that as it's already in this collection. It could be Caramel Apple but the "praline pieces" has me thinking there's a nutty element so it could be the original Caramel Apple)
Yeah, like seriously BBW?! These are the BEST scents y'all could think of for a Thanksgiving , collection?! And why so many apple based scents for a late fall themed collection which is more associated with cranberries and pumpkin (Basic Bs love pumpkin). Of all the scents from years past you could've chosen - Autumn Spiced Wreath, Kitchen Spice, Spiced Pumpkin Cider, Pumpkin Spiced Cheesecake, Peppered Plum, Brandied Pear, Pumpkin Fireside, Wine Cellar...PUMPKIN FRIGGIN PIE! I just don't get it!
Anyhoo, moving on winter. So some stores have been doing a winter preview (I'm not sure if it was only test stores or select stores). Based on what I've seen on social media, the scent choices aren't particularly exciting and, as usual, more emphasis is being placed on the look of the candles and not scents.
As per usual, we're getting a Holiday Tradition collection. Returning scents includes all the standard winter staples - Champagne Toast, Fresh Balsam, Hot Cocoa and Cream, Sugared Snickerdoodle, Tis The Season,Vanilla Bean Noel and Winter Candy Apple. The lone "new" scent is...
Snowy Peach Berry - Sweet Peaches, Tart Cranberry, Sugared Musk (straightup repackage of Cranberry Peach which itself is a repackage of Cranberry Peach Prosecco)
Next we're getting a collection called "Christmas at Kate's"...and you're problem wondering wtf is Kate?! She's basically like Wendy's - she's the "face/figurehead/personification of BBW; basically a women from corporate promoting the company and she's inviting all of us to her pad for a Christmas shindig...doesn't make sense to me, doesn't make sense to you, it's weird and random AF, I just don't understand the thing BBW does some...most times. For now, there's nothing and it's just returning winter/holiday staples - Cinnamon Caramel Swirl, Flannel, Fresh Balsam, Frosted Cranberry, MaBLAHgany Stankwood, Marshmallow Fireside, Sugared Snickerdoodle, Tis The Season, and Vanilla Balsam.
Lastly, we're getting a crapton of candles on the WB side.
There's a quartet of scents with holiday plaid/tartan wraparound labels; nothing new, all returning scents - Caramel Drizzle, Fireside, Holiday and Mahogany Balsam.
There's a quintet of scents with the halfandhalf wraparound labels we've been seeing a lot with WB; again, nothing new - Tree Farm is back from last year along with Crushed Candy Cane, Spiced Gingerbread, White Tea & Sage (dafuq does this have to with winter/Christmastime?!) and Winter
And finally we're getting additions to the WB Core line in the updated classic look ie. matte tumblrs and colored wax in matching colors; again, nothing new - Fresh Ballsack, Frosted Cranberry, Iced Vanilla Woods, Mahogany Balsam, Paris Café, Peach Bellini, The Perfect Christmas and Tis The Season.
ADDENDUM: Frosted Cranberry and Fresh Ballsack was added to the line recently and Winter was just added today.
Also The Perfect Christmas is in a standalone collection - white wraparound label with a red silhouette of Santa in his sleigh and his reindeer.

I really hoped they'd bring Winter White Woods back this year. I should have known to stock up last year. Well at least The Perfect Christmas is back.
ReplyDeleteSuuuuuch a disappointing line up. Almost no newness! I know that the holidays is like, Basic Bitch Capital when it comes to bath and body works, not usually their time to mess around with new scents, I guess, but so disappointing for the big-time candle fans.
