WALK N SNIFF: "Online Exclusive" Candles

Image
So my bf and I are going on vacay back to NOLA (first time back in my hometown in years) as sort of birthday celebration (my bday's next week...VIRGO IN THE HOUSE). Long story short, I was in Manhattan running last minute pre-trip errands..including stopping at BBW to pick up some bits and pieces. I wasn't expecting to see anything interesting as the stores in Manhattan are, in a word, lame and are often tardy to the party as far as getting in stock. Much to my surprise, they had all of the "online addition" candles from the Pumpkin collection. I haven't heard any reports of Pumpkin Pie popping up in stores and I didn't see it today in BBW or past few times I was in WB. The fact that it was an online exclusive in the first place was utter BS. It's not like it's new; at's at least 4 years old now. And as lovely as Pumpkin Pie is (and it is), it's not that exciting or groundbreaking of a scent to be an overhyped online exclusive. The fact

THIS IS THE BOMB.COM: Vanilla Sage

Products: candle Area used in: living room Time Period: whenever So this wasn't initially a BOMB.COM candle. When I first sniffed IT, I liked it but I wasn't blown away..which was odd as all of the notes were right up my alley. Sometime later, my bf and I went to WB and we both sniffed it together. He loved it (he's a fan of anything sage related) and he has pretty good taste in candles so we bought one.  That night, on a whim, we decided to light it up and that's when it happened - I grew to really like it! The very first burn was very iffy. The wax was taking forever to pool out and it certainly looked like it was going to tunnel. However it did finally pool out completely and every subsequent burn has been flawless. The flames have have been dancing high and as you can see in the picture, the flames look gorgeous behind the tumbler. This is such a beautiful candle to burn, especially at night - ambience out the wazoo! The throw so far has been medium-stro

NEWNESS UPDATE: Winter 2019 Test/Preview Candles

Well, fall was kinduva bust; it started off strong but started to fizzle and loss steam towards the end. That said, I didn't particularly have high hopes for the upcoming winter releases. Recently, test stores have released a preview of winter scents and folks on social media has been posting with breakneck speed. Having seen them, my suspicious were unfortunately correct - they're basic AF! So at the moment, there are 3 collections testing/previewing. The first is a Home Traditions collection with all of the standard holiday candles we typically see year after. Right now, there's one "new" scent... Chocolate Peppermint Cream - Crushed Peppermint Candles, Creamy Chocolate, White Sugar Crystals (this practically note for note with last years's Peppermint Brownie  ; why BBW felt the need to change the name to something so generic is beyond me) Returning scents include Vanilla Bean Noel, Winter Candy Apple, Twisted Peppermint, Tis the Season, Fresh Ballsa

WALK 'N' SNIFF: Fall 2019 Scents ~ Shimmering Woods and Miscellaneous

So I just happened to be in part of town I'm hardly ever in. I'm heading for the subway about to go home when I saw a familiar sight out of the corner of my eye. There across the street was a BBW/WB store; I didn't even know one even existed in this area.  Naturally I had to go in and explore; sure enough this store had everything, including the scents I didn't see during my last WALK N SNIFF. That said, without further ado, let's begin the review! So I'll get the miscellaneous stuff out of the way first. Fresh Fall Morning (9203AGA5) - I was quite intrigued with this one at first. Everyone described it as cologney and you know mandles get my fullest and most immediate attention. People were also saying that it smelled "familiar" and being the candle/repackage detective I am, I just had to get to the bottom of it and crack this case. I thought that the notes had an Autumn Day/Acorn & Fig vibe to it but I was told from folks who sniffed that it w

WALK 'N' SNIFF: Fall 2019 Scents ~ Autumn Glow, Luminary Woods, White Barn Collections

*sigh Life have been a little busy and stressful for me lately and I needed a bit of a pickmeup. As I said in my last post, I've been quite bored with BBW lately and needed some newness in my life. So today I decided to take a trip to my local WB store to see if the second round of fall scent were there and sure enough, they were! As usual, I'm just gonna focus on the newness; I'm too mentally fried to sit and spill T on every single candle in each collection. So without further ado, let's get into this WALK N SNIFF... Apple Weather  (9203AGA2 ) - this scent has been getting quite of hype on social and the reviews so far has been polarizing. On the one hand I was intrigued as I do love apple scents but on the other hand, I had to (as always) take what was said on social media with a microscopic grain of salt. So let's get to brass tacks. A lot of people have said that it smells like straightup Farmstand/Heirloom Apple. Ehhh, yes and no. It is absolutely NOT

NEWNESS UPDATE: Fall 2019 Scents Part 2 ~ Second Phase

I dunno about you guys, but I have been kinda bored with BBW lately. I haven't been inside a store since last month, I'm barely on social media and have had little to nothing to write about on here. I think BBW shot their proverbial wad too early for fall this year. What was supposed just a preview was essentially a full launch with all first phase collections being released. While it was exciting at first and already soooo much better than previous fall collection in the past 4-5 years, after awhile things got stale. That's the problem with releasing so many collections and scents all at the same time as opposed to trickling them out in a steady flow - it's all exciting and overwhelming and heady at first but eventually it's just more stuff to be bored of; people, myself included, are already over it and are ready for the next thing. Well, the next thing is coming..thank gawd! The 2nd phase/wave of fall scents are heading our way and not a moment too soon. BBW/

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER: Boathouse Row (2018)

Image
Products: candle and wf refill Area used in: bedroom Time Period: mid- July - September Boathouse Row  was my bae from backintheday. It was truly love at first sniff from the very beginning. My bf and I always made sure we were sufficiently stocked up and burned this candle in our boudoir with reckless abandon. When fall arrived, neither I or my bf were too pressed about stocking up for the future - you really didn't need to do that back then as most scents almost always come back; we figured since it was new and unique and sexy and seemingly popular due to all of those reasons, we figured we'd see it again eventually. By eventually, I meant the following summer, NOT 5 years! Fast forward to 2018! BBW releases a small collection of most requested fan favs - including my bae  - muthaeffin Boathouse Row. My proverbial panties were most assuredly creamed; I practically slipped off my chair for moisture at the very sight off it on social media. You can bet your sweet as

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER: Key Lime Pie (2018)

Image
Products: candle Area used in: living room Time Period: mid-July - September I LOVE Key Lime Pie; it is by far one of my all time favorite desserts! Anything Key Lime Pie (or lime in general) related, I am absolutely all about it. Imagine my sheer and utter delight when, for the first time in BBW history, there was an actual Key Lime Pie candle in the newly revamped Sweet Shop collection during SAS. And you bet your ass that I bought myself. The performance was kinda iffy. The flames never got particularly high; it sorta wavered between stubby and medium. Because of that, there were times when the wax didn't completely pool out and there lips of unmelted wax along the glass. However, all that stopped once the candle reached the mid-way point; from that point on, the flames remained medium height and the wax completely pooled out. Now I'm guessing because of the type of wicks there were and that flames were low, more soot managed into seep into the pool cuz it had one
