NEWNESS UPDATE: Winter 2015 Test Scents *UPDATED*

So winter scents have started appearing in test stores... Oy vey! I predicted that the holiday scents were going to be as lackluster as the fall scents were and that we were gonna see a lot random and bizarre repackages...and I was right! I've talked with a handful of IG buddies who saw and sniffed all these in stores and told me what they thought these were repackages of. So, here they are...

Alpine Cheer - Add cheer to your winter with the crisp fragrance of mountain balsam, cedarwood bark and snow white cranberry (this could possibly be either good ol Winter Garland or Apple Spruce aka White Barn Christmas aka Apple Garland)

Winter Sun - A blend of sparkling citrus, vetiver leaves and creamy musk inspired by glowing sunlight breaking through snowy trees (I thought this was gonna be either Summer Bonfire or failed test scent Vetiver from '12 but nope. Apparently its very similar to Coastal Sun and Pomelo Paradise...dafuq?!!)

Returning scents include  Winter, Fresh Balsam, Fresh Sparkling Snow, Mahogany Teakwood, Salted Caramel (Salty Caramel), Vanilla Snowflake and Frosted Cranberry

Holiday Traditions
Dashing Through the Snow - Breathe in the crisp cool air of a holiday sleigh ride with a blend of green balsam, wintry musk and the jingle of sparkling citrus. (no word on this yet, possibly Alpine Frost? Holly Wreath?)

Jingle All the Way - Jingle Bells will ring and make spirits bright with this merry blend of mandarins, apples and coconut cream. (First of all can I just say how sick and tired I am of coconut scents, especially in fall and winter! Anyway, apparently this is Oahu Coconut Sunset or close to it, the jury is still out)

Sparkling Sugar Plum - Visions of this beautiful blend of sparkling sugarplums, apple blossoms an a touch of mint will dance in your head. (So this isn't apparently Candied Sugar Plum from '11 but is possibly Pink Apple Punch...ugh! Or possibly Snow Apple Mint?)

Returning scents include Evergreen, Tis the Season, Twisted Peppermint, Vanilla Bean Noel, Winter Candy Apple Marshmallow Fireside and Sweater Weather (dafuq?!!!)

Celebrations
Cranberry Sugar Cookie - Fill the holiday cookie jar with the sweet scent of ruby red cranberries, fresh creamery butter and cinnamon sugar. (total repackage of Cranberry Pumpkin)

Golden Peach Sparkle - Here's a pretty blend of festive greenery, creamy vanilla and juicy peach that's perfect for every holiday party. (obvious repackage of Market Peach)

Snowflakes and Spruce - Kick off the holiday party season with an outdoorsy blend inspired by snowcapped spruce and sweetened by a touch of creamy vanilla (no word on this one but I'm really hoping that this is Snow Day but it might be failed test scent Frosted Pine or possibly Pinecone/Autumn Snow)

Pomegranate Prosecco Punch - Ring in the holidays with this bubbly and bright blend of Italian Prosececo, juicy pomegranate and a splash of pear. (At first I thought this might be Wine Down ~ Pomegranate Sangria but this is probably gonna wind up being a renamed Cranberry Pear Bellini)

Returning scents include Black Tie, Champagne Toast, Spiced Apple Toddy, Cinnamon Caramel Swirl and Sparkling Icicles

White Barn
Noel ~ Silver Pine and Cedar - Create a beautiful home for Christmas with this aromatic blend of pine needles, cedar and juniper sprigs (I'm really hoping this is Sleigh Ride from back in the day. This could also be Frosted Tree from even further back in day)

Peace ~ Iced Vanilla Woods - Enjoy a peaceful holiday with this soothing blend of sweet vanilla, smoldering woods and iced lavender (At first I thought this might be Lavender Vanilla but my girl on IG, @theshow78, said that she smelled mint and we theorized that this might actually be the original Peace aka Lavender Market)

Wish ~ Christmas Spice - A warm inviting scent made from classic Christmas spices - cinnamon sticks, ground clove and nutmeg that's sure to become a tradition in your home (This has to be Cinnamon & Clove Buds..which I looooaaaathe!)

Joy ~ Peppermint Marshmallow - Indulge in the fragrance of fluffy vanilla marshmallows, which are full of holiday sweetness and Peppermint Joy. (by all accounts this is the same Peppermint Marshmallow people knew and loved back in the day)

Celebrate ~ Merry Cookie - The scent of classic holiday cookies made from vanilla, butter and sparkling sugar will instantly evoke warm Christmas memories (duh, Merry Cookie)

Merry ~ Holiday Mulled Cider - Tis the Season to be merry and enjoy mulled cider with a blend of holiday spice, crisp apples and creamy birchwood (Spiced Wreath from '13)

Welcome ~ Cinnamon Pinecone - The fragrance of a bountiful basket of spiced pinecones., cinnamon bark and balsam branches set out for the holidays (maybe Winter Wonderland from '11?)

Fireside has recently been included as "Comfort"

Just based on the names, notes and my IG buddies' opinions, I'm not impressed with these at all and will only be getting a few of these once they're released wide. It seems most folks on social media are being bamboozled by the labels and such while the rest of us hardcore candle connoisseurs are scratchin our heads in disbelief and confusion. I've said it before and I'll say it again..I just CAN'T!!!

If you're on IG, check out @theshow78, @tinybubblesfloating, @iambored24 @_fromvictoria and @bathbodywrks_lover23 for pictures

And, as usual, most of these are available on Evilbay courtesy of makingsunshinehappen and papaandmamawsplace

  1. No Merry Mistletoe or something like it? I'm now drowning in a pool of tears of sadness. I don't get why they've extended the coconut stuff into the holidays. Blech. I'm sure I''ll find something I like in the bunch, but I'm still going to be bitter about Merry Mistletoe.

  2. Don't get too despondent just yet, it's still early and it might be released later.

Bbw is catering to their mainstream consumers who are nuts about coconut hence we get coconut scents in fall and winter

There are a few scents that I have my eye on but for the most part I'm very unimpressed

  3. You know I love your writing style and always appreciate your honest, no bullshit approach. Very underwhelming and honestly, I think I got all that I'm gonna get from this years release. Looking forward to your thoughts after your initial first sniff!!

    1. That would be nice wouldn't it? Lord knows it hasn't been in rotation for almost a decade! I'll take anything over Pink Apple Punch
