NEWNESS UPDATE: Spring 2021 Candles

 Well we made it to 2021! I personally feel like the new year started last week on January 20th; the world got a little less crazy and I feel like I can breath again. No, things are certainly not ideal and nowhere near back to the normal but it's slowly getting there.

I hadn't had much to say on here lately. I didn't engage in any SAS shenanigans for obvious reasons. Besides a few wf bulbs during the most recent sale, I haven't really bought anything. I've kinda just been laying low and slimming down my collection as I'm not about the collecting/stocking up life anymore; either burning things or giving and/or selling them away. Occasionally I peep my head into social media to see what's poppin and what newness (that I won't get to see or smell for myself to review) is heading our way. I debated whether or not it was worth posting a newness update; after putting it off and hemmingandhawwing, I decided I might as well. So here we are.

So as you may (or may not know) there's a Valentine's Day day collection (that's currently online, mostly) - the "Good Day Cafe" ; think Valentine's themed Sweet Shop. I did mention this in my last NEWNESS UPDATE but there's new additional info. So returning scents in this collection are Pink Apple Punch and Pink Lilac & Vanilla (from 2019). Honeysuckle & Freesia (Rosewater & Ivy 2.0) and White Lavender Eucalyptus (from last summer's online all lavender collection) have been added as online exclusives. NEWNESS includes...

Bubbly Rosé - Pink Sparkling Rosé, Sweet Blood Orange, Splash of Cranberry Juice (I bought a wf of this; it reminds me a lot of Pomegranate Prosecco Punch. Think Cranberry Pear Bellini with citrus instead of pear)

Pineapple Pancakes - Fresh Pineapple, Fluffy Pancakes, Sweet Banana Slices, Brown Sugar (it's newness but pretty much everyone has said that this smells awful)

Whipped Coffee - Shot of Espresso,  Whipped Scent Cream, Sugar Crystals (word is it's quite similar to White Caramel Cold Brew)

Wildberry Jam Donut - Sweet Wildberry Jam, Powdered Donut, Brown Sugar Crumble (I've heard that this might be a repackage of Blackberry Cobbler from last spring/summer, make sense as they kinda have very similar notes) 

There are 2 new scents that may (or may not) be late additions to this collection; so far they are online in test stores and there has been no word on whether or not they will be released nationwide.

Ice Blueberry Biscotti - Sugared Blueberry, Sweet Vanilla Icing, Almond Biscotti, Brown Sugar (so apparently this isn't Blueberry Pie or Blueberry Sugar. It seems like newness but I wonder how close it is to Blueberry Pumpkin Patch) 

Lemon Cake Pop - Frosted Citrus Glaze, Vanilla Cake Pop, Sugar Crystals (the general consensus is while not an exact dupe, it is quite similar to Tea & Biscuits)

There are also 2 standalone actual Valentine's Day candles in this collection; they're nothing exciting - Be Mine ~ Candy Hearts (aka Pink Fairy Gumdrop) is back as well as a candle called Love which is Rosewater & Ivy (why BBW chose this and not Pink Petal Tea Cake is beyond me)

Let's fast forward a little further into spring and get into Easter. As per tradition, there will be a mini Easter themed collection. There's 2 returning candles in this upcoming trio - Happy Easter ~ Tutti Fruiti Jelly Beans   and Let's Get Eggcited ~ Marshmallow Fluff. The one new scent is...

Love Every Bunny ~ Sweet Carrot Cake - Sweet Cream Cheese Frosting, Fluffy Carrot Cake, Cinnamon Spice (so this is interesting - the name on the packaging box was "Pumpkin Carrot Cake"; there was actually a failed test scent from 2013 called Pumpkin Carrot Cake. I think I heard that folks have done sniff comparisons and they're the same...don't quote me on that. Getting back on track now. It's not spring at BBW without a super early summery/beachy/tropical collection. The next collection would should be seeing fairly soon is indeed a tropical one. Some candles are frosted with a sort of tropical 80s Florida beachhouse wallpaper print on the candle name labels while others are halfandhalf white with monochromatic illustrated beach scenes. Returning scents are Island Marg (frosted), 

Passionfruit Banana Flower (frosted), Flamingo Beach (half), Tiki Beach (half), Hibiscus Waterfalls (half), Island Daydream (half), Suntan (half), Ocean Driftwood (frosted), and Waikiki Beach (frosted). New scents are...

Sun-kissed Coconut (frosted) - Sweet Coconut, Fresh Ylang-ylang, Plumeria Petals (Sunsoaked Sandalwood maybe?)

Orange Pineapple Punch (frosted) - Tart Orange Juice, Sweet Pineapple, Vanilla Sugar Cane (again, I got nuthin)

Emerald Waters (frosted) - Salted Sea Waves, Ocean Driftwood, Hint of Orange Blossom (so a long time ago, there was an one time only aromatherapy collection with a candle called Flirt described as having "emerald waters"; that scent would later be repackaged as Sparkling Icicles. I doubt this is that. What it might be is Orange Blossom & Driftwood/Coastal Oak & Sea Salt  or 2019's Fresh Sea Walk)

Warm Ocean Breeze (half) - Ocean Sandalwood, Warm Sage, Eucalyptus Zest, Coconut (Fresh Coconut & Eucalyptus I'm guessin?)

There's also (at the moment) 2 quotes candle -   Beachy Keen ~ Fiji White Sands and Hello Sunshine ~ Tropical Spice  (hopefully there's more ol school scents on thevway, keep em comin!)

There's also a (I'm assuming) bodycare candle - Hibiscus Paradise - Pink Hibiscus, Juicy Guava, Sunkissed Coconut

And finally, what might be the most interesting of the bunch - testing in stores our 4th "all (fill in the blank)" collection. First we had rose, then pine, recently lavender and now we have....vanilla...uh, yay? 

At the moment, only wf refills are testing but I have to imagine candles will be part of the package. The scents that are currently testing all have new sounding names but could very well be repackages; so far, they include...

French Vanilla Buttercream - Cinnamon Spiced Liqueur, Irish Cream, French Vanilla, Whipped Cream (this has to be Cinnamon Irish Cream)

Orange Vanilla Sherbet - Clementine, Sugared Citrus, Sweet Vanilla (Clementine Sherbet anyone?)

Raspberries & Whipped Vanilla - Pink Raspberries, Strawberry, Vanilla Bean, Sugared Lemon Drops (I'm guessin either Raspberry Citrus Swirl or Unicorn Sprinkles)

Rose Vanilla Meringue - Rosewater Petals, Vanilla Macaroon (macaron), Pink Peonies (this has to be Rosewater Meringue)

Salted Butterscotch & Vanilla - Sweet Bourbon, Caramel Brulee, Warm Vanilla, Buttered Maple (Gather? Bourbon Maple? Bourbon Sea Salt Caramel? Hot Buttered Rum?)

Vanilla Bean & Mint - Crushed Peppermint, Vanilla Extract, Creamy Butter, Vanilla Frosting (I'm gonna go with either Buttercream Mint from backintheday or the recent Peppermint Sugar Cookie)

Vanilla Noir & Lavender - Lavender, Sweet Vanilla, Ebony Wood (note for note Iced Vanilla Woods)

Returning (no need to be tested) scents that are rumored to appear as well are Pink Lilac & Vanilla, Smoked Vanilla, Warm Vanilla Sugar and Vanilla Birch.

Who knows what the outcome will be for this collection as those other "all" collections have been so random - the rose was half released, the pine collection failed, and the lavender was only online. So yeah, who knows.
