Real Talk About Bath and Body Works Candles

Well it's not even officially fall yet and already winter/holiday candles are previewing in stores. Kinda early though; they usually don't start appearing until sometime in September...which makes me think whatever we see in regular stores now is it for fall and that holiday stuff will be appearing sooner than usual. So scent-wise, the choice are..well...interesting. So far nothing has intrigued me as it did for fall but it's still early and I haven't sniffed so anything so I'm gonna keep a (relatively) open-mind. At the moment, there are 5 separate collections in the works. So remember Camp Winter from last winter? Well we're getting an updated version with vintage looking illustrated brown paper labels. New scents include... Toasted Vanilla Chai - Ginger, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Clove ( Vanilla Chai ? Iced Almond Chai ? Winter Vanilla Latte /Creamy Nutmeg? White Pumpkin?) Blue Winter Sky - Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Oak, Cedarwood (So you would think ...

I finally got to sniff the second (possible final) phase of fall candles today. I went to s WB store since I was relatively nearby and the store had everything. So let's the start with the Gilded Forest (tree bark labels) - skipping Fresh Ballsack..Balsam  , Cranberry Woods  and Leaves  Vanilla Birch - basically Wine Cellar  without the wine and Smoked Berries & Incense without the smoked berries Cinnamon Bark (8206M8A1) - Ok, so I think I need help with this one. I'm not sure but I think this is a possible repackage of a one hit wonder from 2014 called Spiced Wreath . It's a very non descript (boring) red hot scent. You get a more woody aromatic cinnamon bark note as well some clove, almost like a very toned down Cinnamon & Clove Buds The Great Outdoors (8204AGA6) - So when I first heard about this one, I had a repackage hypothesis and having smelled it, I'm about 85% certain I'm right. There's a lot more stuff heading our way As you may (or may not know) there are Halloween candles Hot Cocoa & Scream (obviously Hot Cocoa & Cream) Purrfect Pumpkin (aka Shit Cinnamon Poopkin) Vampire Blood These 3 candles are currently online and should already be in your stores if you're interested The "Fall Wishlist" collection is getting 1 late addition - Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte (I dunno why BBW keeps sleeping on Pumpkin Caramel Latte but whatevs). It's also getting an additional wallflower refill/bulb called "Spiced Cranberry & Clove" which is just The Perfect Autumn  (I'm guessin was its original name) This collection is also getting a second version with wraparound labels with rustic autumnal scenes ...which doesn't really make any sense; why have 2 of the same candle?! Why not just release this collection with all wraparound labels from the get-go?! Anyway, al...

So I hadnt been in BBW in awhile and since I was in the general vicinity of one recently, I thought I'd step these candles for the sake of writing a review. ...why? Why do these candles exist? What is their purpose? Like, I get it - not all people are into a fall and fall scents (a sentiment that I do not at all understand or agree with)..and these sick and twisted   individuals need fragrance options....though I would argue that isn't that the whole reason that the WB core collection (aside from easonal add-ons) exists? Moreover what were these SOBs doing in previous falls, stocking up and burning non-fall scents! But I digress. Can we all agree these the choices for these two collections are all kinds of random? Anyway, I can rant about this crap til the cows come home but sure you don't want to hear that, just a nitty-gritty cold sniff review. So here we go... This candle has caused quite of bit of intrigue in the candle community. It mysteriously popped up online with absolutely no fanfare well after all the fall candles tested and were released. Then it disappeared! Then there was a promotion where "exclusive members" ie people living in certain cities (Chicago?) where you could get points by using the BBW app got a ACC candle free with purchase. Utter BS! Then it kinda floated around the online ether like a ghost and you could only get a glimpse of it if you searched for it on Google which lead you to it on BBW's website but you couldn't find it if you looked directly on the website. Many people (myself included) did this and bought it during the B2G2 sale. There is a candle conspiracy theory that suggests BBW bigwigs did all of this on purpose to cause hype for a newly concocted candle that didn't test with the others. If that's true, it worked cuz everyone and their grandma ended up buying it. Now ...
