NEWNESS UPDATE: Pumpkin Preview?!

Well I was planning on making a trip to BBW today for the infamous Pumpkin Preview. Even though I'm not a fan of pumpkin scents at all and there really was only one candle that I was thinking about buying (Pumpkin Carving), I still thought that preview was worth checkin out. However something struck me as odd....I hadn't heard a single word from anybody about the preview taking place. No official word on the BBW website and nothing in their myriad of emails. Nothing from the other bloggers, Youtubers, and Facebookers. I had a feeling that the preview was a no go. Just as I was about to call one of the stores, I happened to glance at Kelley's blog on my phone and posted that she called her store and was told that the Pumpkin Preview was cancelled.

Bummer!

But it seems there is a glimmer of hope. It seems that later the SA that Kelley spoke with earlier got the official word to lay out the fall floorset as the Pumpkin Preview will go on as scheduled!

...phew!

See for yourself....http://www.sincerelykelleyxoxo.com/2013/07/pumpkin-preview-is-on-for-tomorrow-73013.html

I was actually kinda worried that BBW got pissed that soooooo many people already knew about and were buying the Pumpkin line candles from test stores that they figured "what's the point?"

With that said, if you are remotely interested in the Pumpkin Preview, call your store and find out if it's actually going on your area. If not, you can always buy your pumpkin candles online or from a test store and just wait patiently for the full release later this month.

If the Pumpkin Preview is goin on in my neck of the woods, I'm probably gonna either tomorrow or Wednesday just to check it out!

RANDOM POST: Christmas in July

So today I decided to have a Christmas in July day. I brewed myself a pot of Starbuck's Christmas coffee, listened to all of my favorite Christmas albums and I've pulled out all of my favorite Rankin  & Bass stop motion Christmas specials.

Moreover, I dug out my two old Christmasy candles....

I have "Winter" burnin in the bedroom. As I said in my review, I could not stand this scent for the longest time! When my bf and I started dating, he would burn this in the living room but after awhile, I politely asked him to stop. However, time has passed and now that I'm burning, I can honestly say that I'm starting to appreciate this scent and can see why so many love Winter so much. Ya know how sometimes something as simple as a scent can conjure up a fond memory? Winter reminds me of that special time at the very beginning of my bf and I's relationship and it totally gets me all misty-eyed and emotional. With that said, this candle will always hold a special place in my heart.

Then there's my baby...Tis the Season!!! This is one of my all time favorite candles EVER!!! To me, this IS Christmas PERIOD! This just gets me feelin all sentimental; the scent is just so warm and enticing and inviting...just sooooo good!!! I remember when I got this last year, I burned this alllll the time. And I couldn't wait to put in the wallflowers bulbs; I think I was slightly more excited to do that than I was to put up the tree and it's decorations...how sad is that?!

Both of these scents just fill my mind with so many warm and happy memories. Now I can't wait for Christmas to create some more!!!

NEWNESS UPDATE: WE ♥ CHICAGO test candle line

So it seems that BBW is releasing a line of candles inspired by the Windy City itself, Chicago!

The scents include.....

  • Sweet Home Chicago - Enjoy caramel popcorn, taffy-apples, sweet cream & all the iconic treats from the Navy Pier.
hmmmm, sounds like Summer Boardwalk to me

  • Michigan Avenue - Capture the excitement of the city with a gorgeous blend of citrus, lavender, and geranium.
          Can you say...."Villa Bergamot/Bergamot Woods"?!

  • Lake Shore Drive - Sweet jasmine, fresh air and a touch of mint to combined to rekindle the refreshing breeze from the lake.
          Without a doubt...White Barn Renew&Refresh/Seashore

I got this information from my gurl, the BBW guru herself, LittleBalladeer!

These will only be released in Chicago...obvi! Personally I think it's a cute idea; Chicago is an AWESOME city and I'm sure the BBW lovers up there will get a big kick outta this!

As soon as I saw this, I immediately started thinking of candle scents for my hometown of New Orleans....

Riverwalk - As relaxing as a stroll alongside the Mississippi River, this is an enchanting blend of lush verbena, zesty citrus and a hint of musk

My New Orleans - Capture the excitement and mystery of this Southern city with the enchanting fragrance of wild magnolia, honeysuckle and juicy peach

Creole Beignets - A combination of fresh dough, creamy butter and rich sugary vanilla powder conjures the memory of biting into this uniquely Creole confection

Bourbon Street - Enjoy the sights and sounds of this seductive street with an intoxicating blend of dark blackberries, sweet brown sugar, effervescent citrus and a splash of bourbon

Can anyone guess what scents these are repackages of?!?!

RANT OF THE DAY: Bath&Body has us fall-in in love again!!!

*post title inspired by Usher's song "DJ has us fallin in love again". Considering what I'm about to post, I think it fits

Anyway...WOW you guys...BBW has DEFINITELY brought their A game for the upcoming fall season! Sooooo much good stuff, it's crazy!!! Spring and summer was such a disappointment but I think this fall will be enticing the once disillusioned flock back home!

First of all, let's talk packaging...how friggin cute is it this year?! I love the pictures on the labels. For me, the Sweater Weather line wins hands down; the pictures fit the theme and there's that cute lil silver leaf. The White Barn and Fresh Picked lines feel very antique-y and cozy. Even the Pumpkin Line is very cute...Pumpkin Carving is by far the best...too cute! I love the old-timey etchings on the labels for the wallflower bulbs. And how friggin adorable are the room freshener spray bottles with the different sweater coverings?! Perfection all around! In my opinion, this kicks last year's ass!!!

And now the selection...soooo many scents this year. And the fact that so many have appeared online is awesome!!! And it seems that this year, there's something for everybody. For the bakery fans, there's the Pumpkin line...total mass appeal! With the success of Pumpkin Cupcake and Pumpkin Caramel Latte, I guess BBW got inspired and decided to create a whole line to make folks happy. Then there's the Sweater Weather line bringing back all the fall favorites (Leaves, Autumn, Cider Lane, etc) with some new scents for good measure, including the insanely popular test scent from last year, Sweater Weather!!!. Then you have the White Barn line for all the lovers of the more herbal, woodsy, earthy scents (BLACK PEPPER BERGAMOT...sighs in contentment)though...Vanilla Vetiver... Sandalwood Citrus... COCONUT WOODS...really BBW?!?! And then there's the Fresh Picked line, which I think is a perfect idea though to me, I don't think BBW thought this line thru completely. You have Apple Ale alongside Spiced Cider even though their notes are quite similar. Then they brought back Lemon Mint Leaf and friggin Pineapple Mango for no reason besides mass appeal..what do either one of these have to do with the fall harvest?!

Anyhoo, there are plenty of choices for everyone to pick from. It will be interesting to see what else will be released wide.

So what's on my fall wishlist?

Pumpkin Line
I am not a bakery fan at all nor do I particularly like pumpkin scents. The only ones I'm interested in are Pumpkin Apple and Pumpkin Carving. I was intrigued with Pumpkin Hayride but too many people said that it smelled like Autumn Day, which...uuggghh. I doubt that will be goin wide. I might give Pumpkin Caramel Latte a try. Last year's version made me gag it was so sweet. This year apparently it actually smells like a coffee drink.

Sweater Weather Line
Of course Leaves
DEFINITELY Sweater Weather
Tailgate...yall already know that I LOVE woodsy masculine...cologne-y scents
Maybe Applewood Bonfire
I might give Cider Line a try. I remember smelling it in the store last year and I did not like it at all. But too many people said that it smelled good when lit. So it's worth a shot!

White Barn
my baby, my number one BLACK PEPPER BERGAMOT!!!!! I will most definitely be stocking up!
Cranberry Woods, my other fall staple
Flannel. I'm very intrigued with this one though I think the name doesn't fit. It should be something like Country Gate, Farmside Gate, Autumn Woods, Wooden Path, Park Trail..something that describes the woodsiness as the notes are, well..woodsy
Harvest Gathering (possible repackage of Cranberry Harvest) I haven't heard oto much about this one but I like the sound of the notes

Unfortunately, I won't be buying anything anytime soon. The bf and I decided that we're gonna take a lil break from BBW. Besides, I'm still in summer mode and am not quite ready to burn fall scents just yet. And I don't like candles just sittin around collectin dust. Methinks I'm gonna wait til my birthday in early September to buy anything; by then all of the fall scents should be out already. And I have a slew of survey coupons and free shipping codes so I'm ready! Meanwhile, I still have Apple Crumble and Caramel Apple to tide me over whenever I'm in that "I'm ready for autumn" mood. I'm actually burning Apple Crumble as we speak lol

canyoning...stubby flames..but it smells sooo good!!!

By the by if,  like me, you aren't ready to or can't buy fall scents just yet, you can vicariously live thru LizFashionStory and Touchthefiretwice as they have posted some FABULOUS videos reviewing the all the various fall lines. Go check em!!!!

RANT OF THE DAY/SHOP 'N' GO: Semi Annual Sadness Part Deux

So I'm sure BBW knew how disappointed fans have been during the SAS. With that said, they've been trying to entice people to buy more stuff with these one day sale specials, half off this and half off that. For the most part, I couldn't be bothered as I was too disappointed with my last BBW haul. However, once in awhile there would be a one day sale special that would catch my attention and I'd find myself compelled to take advantage and buy something...very tricky BBW!

Much like my first haul, it's quite small!

What you see is a combination of several purchases made in the last two weeks of SAS....

The week before last, there was a one day sale special with half off of all Aromatherapy products. I was very excited cuz I love me some BBW Aromatherapy products so I couldn't pass this. I got...
  • Stress Relief Eucalyptus Tea Lotion and Shower Gel
Back in the day, I had the Eucalyptus Spearmint lotion, shower gel, bath salts and candle...and I found them all really overpowering and not very relaxing. I thought Eucalyptus Tea would be like that but I decided to give it try. Unlike Eucalyptus Spearmint, the eucalyptus isn't as potent and mixes well with the tea. It's quite calming and relaxing; I really like it!

  • Energy Orange Ginger Lotion
I got this for my bf who absolutely LOVES this. He already had a bottle of this, but I decided to get him another since he loves it so much

  • Sleep Lavender Vanilla
I got this for my mom since her birthday is coming up soon. Like me, she loves taking bubble baths and loves the smell of lavender. Personally, I prefer Lavender Chamomile; it's more calming and not as sweet. However, my mom also loves the smell of vanilla so this is perfect for her.

I bought these online and used a free shipping for  $25 purchase code

During that same week (I think) there was an one day special with all wallflower bulbs for 2.50. On this day, I just happened to be in the store with my best friend. The pickings were extremely slim. I picked up

  • 4 Lakeside bulbs
  • 1 Beach Cabana room spray (room sprays were $3)
My best friend surprised me on the bought these for me! Awhile ago I bought him a Dark Kiss FFM (he LOVES Dark Kiss), so maybe he was repaying the favor. At any rate, it was very sweet of him!

Sometime last week, before the 4th of July, there was a one day special for half off of all True Blue Spa products. I wanted to get some stuff for my grandma since her birthday is coming up soon as well. Her feet are always bothering her in one way or another, so I bought her these products to see if they would help things

  • Shea Butter Foot Lotion
  • Cooling Mint Foot Spray

Lastly, on the last weekend of SAS, there was a special for all 3wick candles for $9, including the Lakeside and Destination candles. I knew this was too good to be true and sure enough it was. Unlike the other specials, you could only use the $9 code online and with online purchases you can only use one code at a time so no free shipping code or 20%. However no code was necessary in stores. My bf concluded this was because candles are so expensive to ship and such a risk because of possible breaking glass and BBW would rather people go nuts with candles in stores than online because of that. So my bf and I went to the second major BBW store near us as it's usially stocked well. So we get there and the store candle-wise was pretty much picked clean; all that particular store had was the Lakeside and Destination candles as well as a gang of Espresso Bar candles...which was perfect, cuz those were what we were looking for. We got...

  • 1 Espresso Bar 3wick
  • 1 Boathouse Row 3wick
  • 2 Sea to Santorini 3wicks
And of course we used a survey coupon!

That's about it. Methinks I'm gonna take a break from BBW for awhile. Even though some fall candles are online at $12, including my baby BLACK PEPPER BERGAMOT, I've gotta take a break. Plus I've no room for more candles to stockpile. I'm probably gonna wait til my birthday in early September before I buy any fall stuff. By then, ALL of the candles should be available. And I'm sure there will be a 2 for $22 sale around Labor Day and I have a gang of survey coupons and free shipping codes to use up.

Anyhoo, I made a Youtube video about this haul so go check it out! Enjoy!

BIG NEWS!!!!

Holy ****balls!!!! I can barely contain my excitement!!!

*deep breath

I just happened to be on the BBW website and much to my surprise.....

SOME OF THE FALL SCENTS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE!!!!!

The website has just a little of each from the Pumpkin Line, Sweater Weather Line and White Barn Line in 3wicks and all of the non-test Pumpkin scents in wallflower bulbs.

I for one was not expecting the fall candles to be out this early; I assumed they would be available after the Pumpkin preview at the end of the month. Then again lately new lines of scents have appearing earlier online than in the stores!

And it just so happens there is a sale goin on now with $12 3wicks...personally I don't think this is much of bargain; they should've done another $9 sale like they did last weekend or just do a 2 for $22 but hey anything else better than payin full price!

Anyhoo check it our for yourselves....

THIS IS THE BOMB.COM AWARD: Boathouse Row

Products: candle & wallflowers
Area used in: bedroom
Time Period: end of June-August

Description: The fragrance of deep, blue water surrounded by notes of moss, sage and bay leaves captures the essence of a lakeside adventure

I heard about the Lakeside collection months before it was released and this really was the only candle that I was really intrigued with. With the absence of Black Pepper Bergamot, my bf and I were looking for a rich, sexy high end scent for the bedroom in the summer months (we tried Villa Bergamot; it was cute but it just didn't have that umph and je nes c'est quoi of BPB). When we heard about Boathouse Row, we knew that we had to get it. And when we did, it was love at first light!!!

First of all, performance-wise this was the BEST candle I've ever had so far. PERFECT..FLAWLESS..AMAZING..A FRIGGIN PLUS!!!! The wicks were nice and sturdy and created probably the biggest mushroom tops that I've ever seen! With that said, the flames were HIGH..I mean RIDONKULOUSLY HIGH! It was like a mini bonfire! And unlike most BBW candles that kinda fizzled and stubbed out mid-range, the flames stayed consistent and danced high all the way down to the bottom! And it's sooooo beautiful to burn at night... the high dancing flames, the deep pool, the dark marine green wax...ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!

The throw is PER-FRIGGIN-FECTION!!! It's strong...like I can smell in the living room with the bedroom door closed! And it completely fills the room. And I'm just sayin this from my experience...it was strong but it didn't make me sick or anything. Like BPB, I feel wrapped and enveloped in this scent and I love every minute of it!

Now the scent...*sigh...this has been written off as a old man cologne scent, particularly by the ladies and some of the gays. *eyeroll yes this is very "cologne-y"..but I'm gonna vehemently defend this and the other  cologne-y type scents...just because something smells "cologne-y" doesn't make it bad; there are people like myself who actually enjoy these types of scents. Moreover, you see the notes... sage, bay leaf and moss...those are notes that are actually used to make...MEN'S COLOGNE!!!

I digress...

As far as the notes are concerned, I totally get the watery aspect. I don't really get sage but I get the moss and bay leaves. What I like about Boathouse Row as that it's kinduva a dark horse scent-wise as when I smell it, I get different vibes and pictures....

  •  on the way hand, I get the image that BBW  was trying to convey...a wooden cabin type building next to a lake; as I said before, I get the watery aspect as well as a old rich earthy woodiness
  • but I also see how this can be described as an old man cologne.  There is a cologne in particular that it smells very similar to. In fact Touchthefiretwice hit it on the nail in his review that i smelled like a cologne called "Burberry London" My bf, inspired by this review, decided to buy this cologne and after smelling it, the two smell quite smiliar
  • I also get sort of a British vibe from this. Littleballadeer in her review  that the scent reminded her of a British lad or one of the English guards standing outside Buckingham Palace...I totally get it! I can see a cute English guy or one of Queen Elizabeth's guards wearing something lie this.
I do have one complaint. Towards the end,  the candle starts to smell a little strange...it gets a little peppery which I don't understand. It's not offputting or funky, just strange. It's only happened with the first candle I burned; I've two more left so we'll see

So yes, if you couldn't tell already I love this candle. Oh, and I love the wallflower bulbs as well..consistently strong and so far isn't getting stale. Most ladies are not gonna like this one..get it for your man. And if you like the manly cologne-y scents like I do, you HAVE to give it a try before it disappears!

RANDOM POST

Today is the one year anniversary that my bf and I got our kitten, Mr. Mistoffelees. He was very tiny and very sick little kitty but with some TLC over time he grew into a big healthy very precocious and mischievous cat.

And as you can see, like his two daddies, he LOVES BBW candles!!!

MULTIPLE CANDLE SPOTLIGHT: The Lakeside Summer Collection

Following the trail of the Fresh Picked and Italian Piazza line came this all new line. Taking a departure from the usual tropical, beach-y, and summer boardwalk themes in spring/summer lines of the past, this new line take a new approach - summer vacation at the lake. Its scents were to conjure family trips, camping in the woods, taking dips in the lake and festive picnics in nature. While the concept worked in theory, the actual scents themselves were less than stellar. Some of the scents didn't quite hit the mark and there were one too many repackages. Once again, BBW got people expecting too much but actually got less than expected.

Scents included Strawberry Picnic (Lil Debbie Strawberry Short Cakes), Watermelon Lemonade (watermelon Jolly Ranchers), Summertime S'mores (watered down Marshmallow Fireside) and the following three...

Lakeside
Product: candle
Area used in: living room
Time Period: end of June - August

Description: Jump into an invigorating blend of fresh water, sheer musk and the perfect pop of citrus

As everyone knows, this is a repackage of Verbena Waters...a very very watered Verbena Waters. On the one hand, I was disappointed that this was a repackage but I was also kinda excited cuz I love Verbena Waters. I can kinda get what BBW was trying to portray with this scent - summer lake surrounded by lush greenery (of course everyone's argument against Lakeside was that it didn't smell like a lake...which is good cuz lakes STINK!!!)

My only complaint is about the throw...it's soooooo WEAK!!!! BBW watered down the hell outta VW! Everybody knows how friggin strong VW was back in the day; the sandalwood and musk notes would uppercut you as soon as you walked in the door. Lakeside...not so much. You would literally have to put your nose over the flames to smell anything! And the notes are super weak. The sandalwood and musk are both very subdued and you get a hint of lemon/lime/verbena zest. And maybe my nose is playin tricks on me but it smells a bit sweeter and "cologne-y than VW; I'll go so far as to say this kinda reminds of a unisex body spray (think Citron/White Citrus). It (and VW) smells to me like Palmolive soap...the newer Lime Basil soap to be exact.

I had leftover VW bulbs from last year that I used in tandem with this candle; the bulbs totally overpower the candle.....and that's pretty pitiful! It's really a shame cuz the performance is EXCELLENT! Even though the wicks are skinny and the mushroom tops aren't very big, the flames dance high, there's always an even wax pool and it looks very pretty at night. Too bad there's no effin smell!!! I won't be getting another one!!!

Boathouse Row
Product: candle & wallflower

Description: The fragrance of deep, blue water surrounded by notes of moss, sage and bay leaves captures the essence of a lakeside adventure

OMG....I...FRIGGING...LOVE THIS!!!!! In my humble opinion, BR was the runaway hit of this line. I LOVE manly scents like this; for me, this is right up there with Black Pepper Bergamot.

It's strange... when I smell this, the scent conjures different images. On the hand, I totally get what BBW was trying to capture and portray - wooden cabin next to lake; I definitely get both wooden and watery notes.  On the other hand, because everyone describes this as *eyeroll "old man cologne" smelling, I envision a sexy older middle-aged silver fox (think Anderson Cooper or any other older actor with salt pepper hair). And there's something European about it...British to be exact. Littleballadeer said in her review  that it reminded her of an"English lad"...and I totally get it! Ok, I'll stop gushing now...

The candle is EXCELLENT!!!! The wicks are thick and the mushroom tops were HUGE which caused super high! Because of the dark color, you couldn't really see the wax pool from far away but up close you could see that the pool was both deep and even. And the throw...OMG..the throw is absolutely PERFECT!!! It fills the room nicely and envelops you like a blanket; it's strong without being headache/nausea inducing. The bulb is strong too and more cologne-ish than the candle.

I love BR sooo much that I'll probably get more; right now I have 1 more candle and bulb. This will also be getting a SPOTLIGHT/THIS IS THE BOMB.COM post of its own!

Mahogany Teakwood
Product: candle & wallflower
Area used in: bedroom
Time Period: August-October

Description: The luxurious scents of fine woods - mahogany, cedarwood and oak are enlightened by delicate lavender and geranium notes

UUUGGHHHH. Why BBW, why?! Why did you feel the need to release this in this line?! Once again it's a case of a)BBW being lazy and b)BBW trying to BS people. First MT was sold as a autumn inspired scent (fall evening in a library) and now it's a summer scent (being on the wooden deck of a boat)? Really?!

Anyway, my bf really likes MT; he actually bought the original core version but after reminding him how bad it performed, I persuaded him to exchange for this version cuz I heard that it burned better. And I'll admit, I like look of this version; the old one was BOOOOOOORIIIINNG!!! And my nose could be playin tricks on but based on the cold throw, this smells slightly more woody than the core version. However it still smells too much of Abercrombie & Fitch store for me to ever like it!

Because my bf and I are very much content with Boathouse Row for the moment and neither one of us thinks that it's a summer scent, this'll get burned at the beginning of fall... *in my sarcastic tight smile voice I can't wait....
