CANDLE SPOTLIGHT: Watermelon Lemonade (GP vers) LAST CANDLE FOR SUMMER

Products: candle
Area used in:  living room
Time Period: end of July- end of August

Description: Refresh your thirst for spring with this pleasing mixture of water, sparkling water and freshly squeezed Meyer lemons

This scent just refuses to die! We've seen this SOB 4 friggin times! It first came out last summer in the Summer Lakeside collection, then it came back this past spring both in the Sweet Shoppe collection and the Garden Party collection and now it's back  with a vengeance this summer in the Summer Sips! Everyone goes nuts for this damned scent and I never understood the hype! However I decided to be open-minded and this version of it when it was discounted during
SAS.

So, in my most humble opinion, each incarnation of WL smelled slightly different. The first original version smelled to me a bit more watery and icy, liked lemonade that sat too long and the ice melted. The Sweet Shoppe version smelled more tart and lemony with little to no watermelon action. This version I think smelled the sweetest and the most "genuine". I never smelled the Summer Sips versions but by all accounts it smells like the Garden Party version.

So performance-wise, it was pretty darn good. It had decent sized flames and the wax pooled out evenly and consistently despite not having mushroom tops. Throw-wise, it was pretty damn strong; it filled up my entire living room and  lingered for hours. Even the cold throw was strong, you get punched in the face with instant fragrance as soon you take off the lid.

So let's talk about the scent now. Real talk...this smells legit like watermelon Jolly Rancher candy. You can get this overwhelming sweet "watermelon" note...and I use quotation marks cuz it's a definitely watermelon but a very artificial one... think candy or syrup/liqueur. Then you get "lemon"..again artificial lemon like processed lemon juice in a grocery store or lemon flavored candy. Finally there is a slight bubbly effervescence in the background like Cranberry Pear Bellini or Sugarberry Spritzer.

Final thoughts...it's nice, it's cute. Is it as exciting as e'rybody makes it out to be? Ehh, not really. However, I can certainly see the appeal now. It's sweet and refreshing - it's a nice candle to have for summer!
