Description: Indulge in this minty and merry blend of cool peppermint, creamy milk and rich dark chocolate

As you all know, I'm not into the candy/sugary/bakery/gourmand candles at all! Moreover, I hate the smell of Mint Chocolate anything.

So why did I got this candle you ask?

I wanted to get out of my comfort zone a bit. Also I typically get a gourmand candle to burn in the morning/afternoon on the weekends, i.e Espresso Bar, Pumpkin Caramel Latte, Cider Donuts, etc. I wanted something that smelled uniquely Christmas-y. It was either this or Merry Cookie and I decided to go with this...and I'm sooooooooooooo glad I did cuz this candle is AMAZIIIIIIIINNNNNG!!! Mint Chocolate is the only other candle besides Espresso Bar and my beloved Black Pepper Bergamot that I let burn allll day!

First of all the performance on this bad boy was fan-F***IMG-tastic!!!! The wicks sported thick mushroom tops which lead to big healthy high steppin flames. However the flames did kinda nub out a little as it got close to the bottom but they still melted the wax evenly so that's all that matters.  The wax pool was always very deep and even. And OMG the wax color...the wax melted into this gorgeous bright emerald color. I don't even like the color green and I was like "damn, that's really beautiful!"

Finally the scent. I mean it's pretty basic..it's smells like mint chocolate, plain and simple.
Think York Peppermint Patties...Andy's Mints...Chicago's Frango Chocolates...mint chocolate ice cream...mint chocolate cookies or macarons (like on the cover)...it smells like all of those.

Usually chocolate in home fragrance comes off smelling really artificial and plastic-y...but not in this candle. It smells like legit bittersweet dark chocolate. And the mint note is really fresh and cooling. And the two notes don't overpower each other but rather blends together beautifully. And the throw is pretty strong however it doesn't choke you out or causes headaches but rather wraps around you like a cozy blanket!

Now Mint Chocolate has a rival in the form of Buttercream Mint and everyone has been goin nuts for it...except me. I personally don't get the hype; to me it smells like mint covered buttered popcorn, not appealing at all. However both burn beautifully and melt into a gorgeous verdant pool. If you're stuck with conundrum of deciding which one to get, I say go with Mint Chocolate.I promise you won't regret it!

  1. Mint Chocolate is wonderful! I got one at June's SAS and I burn it in small doses 'cause I made the mistake of getting very few and it's so good. As one of my favourite flavours of anything, I approve highly and I was excited to see you do a review for it too. Between this one and Merry Cookie you definitely made the right choice. I got a Mason Jar of Merry Cookie. Not good. Very weak scent and those actually burn/throw quite well.

  2. Hey there! Haven't heard from you in ages!

It's funny, I thought about getting MC during SAS but decinded to go with Caramel Apple and Apple Crumble instead. I'm glad I got MC this time around cuz it's soooo good.

A lot of people have complained about Merry Cookie bein a hot mess. Methinks I dodged a bullet

    1. Yeah I know, I kinda fell off blogger for a little bit but I'm back!

The Merry Cookie candle is a really fugly colour, kind of creme with bits of yellow ickiness. Hot Mess and ashamed that one is! Now Mint Chocolate on the other hand, the wax pool is the prettiest damn thing I've seen and I like how it doesn't look like a charred mess towards the end of it! You def dodged a bullet and made a great choice. :)

  3. I purchased this candle last night based upon your review! I smelled it a few days ago and didn't really like it. I checked it out again last night and really took time to smell it. I was on the fence about it because it is out of my comfort zone, but decided to take a chance. It smells so good, I almost don't want to burn it...almost. At SAS pricing, I think I may get a back up. The ladies at my local BBW say that it smells like Girl Scout Thin Mints. I have to agree with them.

    1. Yay! I'm glad my post influenced your decision, that makes me happy!

Ya gotta burn it though, I promise you'll fall even more in love with the scent. And I definitely recommend getting so backups before they all disappear and while they still half off!

  4. I burned it and you were right! I love this scent so much I got a backup. My store still has some of the old Mint Chocolate candles with the ice cream scoops on the front. I thought that they smelled different. This new candle smells like cookies...has that baked smell. The old candle, to me, has more of a sweet creamy smell...like ice cream. I got the last of the new candles...they still have plenty of the older ones.

    1. Yes, this year's version is sooooo much better!

And yes, I agree there is a bit of differences between the two; the SAS/2011 version is quite ice creamy whereas this one does have more of a candy/bakery note...which is probably why I was less reticient to buy MC this time around.
