SCENT EXPOSÉ: The Perplexing Puzzlement of Pumpkin Patch

So this candle came along...

Folks were posting it social media and, as is always the case, you couldn't get a straight/direct answer on what it was.

Now we ol schoolers immediately had a hunch on what it could be just based on the name alone but newbies less in the know weren't so sure. So once more lucky souls got to sniff it in advance and we finally got a clear answer - Pumpkin Carving

Here's my issue - folks (newbies) were incorrectly stating this candle was a repackage of Pumpkin Carving or Heirloom Pumpkin. That's not entirely true semantically speaking; I pointed out that it's the other around. How, you may ask? Pumpkin Patch was Pumpkin Carving's original name back in the Slatkin era. This statement seemed to confuse and befuddle people even more.

Allow me to break it down in depth...

So back in the mid to late 2000s, Slatkin had an ongoing collection called "The Perfect Autumn"; one of the more popular/memorable scents being "Pumpkin"

In 2009, this scent returns with the new name "PUMPKIN PATCH" and the name stuck for a few years.

Then in 2012, the name was changed to "PUMPKIN CARVING". That year, only the 7oz 1wick was available (though a small handful of stores randomly got 3wicks). There was a promotion for the Fall Festival where if you spent $10 or more, you got this 7oz for free.

The following year saw the first full nationwide release of this candle with the new Pumpkin Carving name (and by far the best label). It would return again for Halloween in 2016.
Backtrack to 2015, the last time we got a Fresh Picked collection for fall, PC would return (albeir very watered down) as "HEIRLOOM PUMPKIN"

And now here we are in 2018 with its original name

So the point of this whole rant is this Pumpkin Patch candle is NOT a repackage of Pumpkin Carving/Heirloom Pumpkin because the name "Pumpkin Patch" predates the other two.

Simply put, all BBW did was give this scent back its original name from the Slatkin days.
