With tomorrow being All Hallow's Eve, I couldn't think of a better candle to review. Now as y'all know, due to an unfortunate run-in with Shit Cinnamon Poopkin, I developed an intense dislike of pumpkin scents. And while everyone has raved about this particular candle for years and swear by it's superiority to SCP, I just couldn't make myself like PC. Back in 2013 when it made it's full debut, I tried getting over my pumpkin phobia and bought and used several PC wf bulbs, sort of dipping my toe into the low end of the pool. I enjoyed the wf bulbs but I just couldn't commit to buying and burning a candle of it. Fast forward to this year with PC making a surprise appearance for Halloween. I've been really trying to branch out and be more open-minded (especially with pumpkin scents) so when I saw this, I decided to take the plunge and try it out...and I'm glad I did.

As ya'll can see from the picture above, this candle performed FLAWLESSLY. Even though it had the weird wicks that curl over that BBW insists on using this year, the flames were ridonkulously high and the pool ridonkulously deep. I think I took this picture after a 2 hour-ish burn. And it threw super far; living room and kitchen was filled with instant pumpkiny goodness. That said, it wasn't choke you out KO strong; it had what I like to call a "warm blanket" that just wraps around and envelops with warm cozy feeling.

The wf bulb is super strong and smells amazing; I usually have it in my spare bathroom. This year I have Heirloom Pumpkin in my bathroom which smells exactly the same (although I swear the candle smells slightly different)

There's really not much to say about the scent cuz it's pretty straightforward. You get a deep earthy pumpkin note; you smell the almost waxy rind as well as the meat of the pumpkin. It's like you roasted the pumpkin in the oven and are about sweeten/season the meat to puree. It's not heavily spiced which is great cuz BBw can be a little bit heavy handed with the cinnamon cough cough * Shit Cinnamon Poopkin. The only spice you get as an intense almost nutty nutmeg note which blends beautifully with the brown sugar note; I love nutmeg and brown sugar smell together in real life and in home fragrance. You also get a rich but not overly sweet vanilla, think vanilla extract. The original notes from back in the day mentioned butter, I totally get that; there's something that makes this scent very creamy and whipped and smooth with maybe the tiniest hint of salt. Overall it smells freshly made warm pumpkin puree whipped with butter and sweetened with vanilla and brown sugar as well as spiced with nutmeg and is ready to make a homemade pie with.

I think PC has cured my pumpkin phobia. That said, I don't know not why BBW insists on shoving SCP in our faces at every given turn cuz PC is obviously superior. Like Leaves and Sweater Weather and Cranberry Woods, there is just something quintessentially fall-ish about this scent; it totally captures late autumn and is a perfect scent for Halloween straight on til Thanksgiving. And I will admit, I was kinda seduced and beguiled by this year's packaging...although the 2013 version was pretty darn cute as well. Anyway, I've really grown to like this scent; it took me awhile but I'm finally onboard. I do wish it stays around as the official Halloween candle.

That said, I hope all of y'all have a very happy (and safe) Halloween!!!!

  1. I LOVED this candle when it came out with the cute jack o' lantern label, and I should have bought a lot more because the Heirloom Pumpkin that came out after was missing something--a bit of creaminess, maybe? Not so fond of the label this year, but I've definitely stocked up!! It reminds me so much of a candle my parents had when I was a kid :)

  2. Thank you! I've been saying that HP smells slightly different but people don't wanna believe me!

i should've bit the bullet and bought PC that year, that label was so much better than this year.

And now PC is half off, I might have to get some more
